This was my first purchase or usage of a humidifier, so I was not sure what to expect in terms of noise level. The HCM-6009 is very quiet unless you have to turn it up to half-speed or greater, in which case it is about as noisy as a typical hotel air-conditioning unit and therefore somewhat disruptive to sleep. Fortunately I have not had to use the higher speeds. It is very simple to assemble and designed well for the routine filling of water tanks and changing of the filter. Quality appears good and the unit seems to be well constructed.
