Cheap Honeywell 18155 SilentComfort Permanent, True HEPA Air Purifier

After running this unit for just one week I've noticed a great reduction in dust from our fireplace which used to settle on everything. We have it sitting very close to our TV but it runs very quietly - even on high - and doesn't interfere with the volume on the TV.
The only reason I did not give it five stars is because it has a pre-filter I was unaware of which has to be replaced several times a year. At $15 each that could add up quickly. However, I purchased a smaller Honeywell unit for the bedroom which also has a pre-filter and the instructions say that it can be rinsed and air dried so I don't see why I can't do the same with this one.
All things considered, I'm very happy with this unit.

Buying Honeywell 17000 Permanent Pure HEPA QuietCare Air Purifier

This is a very good air filter, light to handle and easy to use. The Hepa filter is simple to put in. The only reason I give it 4 stars out of 5 is that it does make a constant soft whirring noise, which my son doesn't like; it's wound up in my own bedroom, because I love that noise and am happy to have the air filtered.Get more detail about Honeywell 17000 Permanent Pure HEPA QuietCare Air Purifier.

Buy Honeywell HFD-120-Q Tower HEPAQuiet Air Purifier with Permanent IFD Filter, Black

I hesitated for a long time before purchasing this product. I'm so glad I finally bought it! The slim tower does take up a small bit of space, but it doesn't look intrusive in my home. The variable speed options mean I can put it on low (quiet) while in the room, then put it on high when I leave for a more thorough cleaning. Oscillation makes all the difference. It moves the air around much more efficiently. So far it has tackled cooking smells and smoke with ease. The permanent filter is a big plus for me, as I can't stand hunting for replacement filters. It's not heavy or bulky at all and I have no trouble moving it from room to room, but I'm considering purchasing another unit so I can keep this one in a permanent location. Order Honeywell 50250 99.97% Pure HEPA Round Air Purifier

The solution for the nightlight is simple. Cover it with a jar lid. Go to your kitchen and find a screw-on lid from a jar. Any lid that is about 2 1/4 to 3 inches in diameter will work....a jar of applesauce, gravey, spaghetti sauce, whatever. Place it over the dial/light area and duct tape it down on the high side. Then you can flip it up from the bottom to turn the thing on and off, and flip it back down when you're done. The bright light is gone. There is still a little light that seeps out around the top of the machine, just enough to see where it is in the dark, but there is no longer a bright beacon that bounces off the ceiling and lights up the whole room.

This is the second Honeywell air purifier I've had and I love it. The first one finally died after eight years of nightly use. Our bedroom is large so I needed another big unit. I was a little hesitant to get this model after reading about the loudness and the light in the reviews. But I took the gamble. The noise is the same as the older model I had..not that bad. Just background noise that is good to sleep to. The light really is bright and does bounce off the ceiling like an airport beacon. But it's easy to cover up as I described above and that problem is solved. I gave it only 4 stars instead of 5 because I had to find a solution for the bright light. But it is serving me very well for my purpose...breathing easy while sleeping well. Get more detail about Honeywell 50250 99.97% Pure HEPA Round Air Purifier.

Where To Buy LuxPro PSP511LC Programmable Heat and Cool Thermostat

I had to buy a second one. As a landlord with quite a few thermostats to take care of, this low cost product is straight forward, full featured, and very easy to operate without reading complicated manuals or learning. It's intuitive nature, as well as full feature set, give me more satisfaction than others I have paid a lot more for. Plus, I like the blue background lighting. And, for a person who usually needs to put on his glasses, I can read this one at a glance without them.

It was difficult to wire and didn't work properly. We purchased it because we like the design of having the buttons hidden behind a little door. Although it looks good on paper, it wasn't when up-close and personal.

We went back to a Honeywell product, which is a snap to wire and use. The buttons aren't hidden, but hey, you can't have everything, and during the winter, having the thermostat work is kind of important...Get more detail about Lux 5-1-1 Programmable Thermostat.

Lux Everything 2H/2C Digital Thermostat PSP722E

I've installed over a dozen of these in various applications and I am very very happy with them. The 7 day programming feature is very easy to use, I don't have to keep a manual handy and follow it step by step as is the case with many other units. One of the best aspects of programming to 722e is the COPY button. Once I have settings for four time points for one day I can copy them to any other day, MON-FRI, SAT-SUN or ALL DAYS. Even if you aren't running the most complex devices, i.e. multi stage heat pumps, it's still a good choice. I have some controlling a single zone of heat.

To control elecric baseboard heat I use a DPST Contactor relay with a 24VAC coil powered by a 24VAC transformer. One transformer can control several relays. By doing so, and placing the thermostat away from the heater you can obtain very good control of your temperature.

In applications where I am paying for the heat, but someone else is using it, the LOCK feature beats one of those boxes that locks the thermostat up. I can disallow the tenant to alter the settings by locking the thermostat with a code of my own choosing. In one application, since I don't know the hours the tenant will be using the heater, the 722e allowed me to program a maximum temperature, allowing the tenant to set any tempearture they want, so long as it is 70 degrees or less.

The 722e lets you program the "swing", the range that controls on and off. I used this to control a steam oil system which serves as a worst case backup for an electric system. The steam system takes over 30 minutes to produce heat and I only want to use it when the electric system can't keep up. So whereas my main heat is set for 69 degrees with a .25 degree swing I programmed the oil thermostat at 66 with a 2 degrees swing. This way it will not come unless the temperature falls below 64 degrees, and it will stay on until it has reached 68 degrees.

The final icing on the cake, for those trying to understand energy use are the energy used readings. These give you the heating and cooling hours of operation, today, yesterday and cummulatively since you last reset the counter. With them I can see how long each heating or cooling unit is running on a daily basis, which gives me feedback to see if I should alter my programming. All in all this is a fine thermostat that is easy to use and can save you a lot of money if you use it right.Get more detail about Lux Everything 2H/2C Digital Thermostat PSP722E.

LuxPro PSP711TS Touch Screen Programmable Thermostat Review

I've had mine for about 2 years now. I like the energy usage report. It could be a little easier to program but all in all, it's not bad. I like how it's lighted with a button press & the numbers are big enough to see across our small room. Get more detail about LuxPro PSP711TS Touch Screen Programmable Thermostat.

Air King 3-Speed Recirculating Humidifier #9915 Top Quality

This is a pretty good humidifier. It's the best one I've had in a long time. Because it is a recirculating system when it starts to go bad the gunk ends up in the water in the tub and it becomes a little rank. It is difficult to get into some of the places where minerals build up. You will want to filter the water you put in there, like with a Brita filter. Otherwise you will be taking it apart and cleaning it every month. And it really wasn't made to be taken apart. The best way I have found to clean it is to make a nice mix of water and white vinegar and let it sit in the tub to get the minerals off. Then just run it with the vinegar in it. Your house will smell like vinegar for a couple of hours, but it will dissolve all of the mineral buildup everywhere that you can't reach, and the machine will be very clean afterward. Digital Heater with Timer Blue This instant

I purchased two of these heaters through Amazon. I wanted a bathroom heater with a timer to limit energy use if we forgot to turn it off.

Pro's--- The unit is attractive

Con's---
Out of the box I was unimpressed before even plugging it in. The recess for carrying the heater is poorly designed. When lifted the heater tilts due to poor balance and slips off your fingers.

The control panel display is LED and tilted at an angle of around 45 degrees. Due to the nature of LED displays you have to view the display straight on to see it undistorted. This means that when standing most people would have to be at least 4 feet away. The only practical way to set it up is to get on the floor with it.

The unit is programmed by push buttons and requires approximately 15 to 20 button pushes to turn it on, set to 70 degrees, and set the timer to 1 hour. This is worsened because it does not remember your previous settings. When turned on it defaults to 75 degrees, and 10 hours delay.

I HAVE SAVED THE WORST FOR LAST. The thermostat is influenced far more by the unit temperature than by the room temperature. Lets say the room temperature is 60 degrees and the thermostat is set for 70 degrees. At turn on you can see the room temperature display increase very rapidly up to beyond 70 degrees (within a couple minutes) then the heat element and fan shut off. At this point the room temperature has not changed at all, but the heater thinks it has increased to 70 degrees. I believe this is a design flaw because both heaters do the same thing.

I gave up on these heaters before testing the other features. I only hope that the seller will take them back, this is pending.

Conclusion---
This product is essentially worthless unless you want to use it as a continuous heater, without thermostat, and manually shut it off when through. For this you can get superior, and less expensive heaters from Wal-Mart.
