I bought this strictly to transport my gun legally in the car. It's great for that, big enough to hold two medium sized handguns (depending on what you carry). I wouldn't depend on this to keep a loaded gun out of a child's hands or anything, but for what I bought it for it's a pretty nice sturdy little box at a reasonable price.
