I have Alen T300. It is whisper quiet unit with good performance. I wanted to buy smaller unit for bedroom and ordered T100 expecting it to be similar to T300. Only similarity between these two units though is design and HEPA filter - T300 uses two TF30 filters and T100 only one. T100 has also lower power consumption - 13Wt at low speed compared with 20Wt for T300. But it is louder - 39 db vs 36 db. Those 3 db make all the difference (3 db doubles audible sound level). When I sleep with T300 on in low speed I virtually do not hear it running when it is 5 feet away. But T100 sounds like air conditioner when running under same circumstances. And it additionally moves twice less air. Sound of motor and pitch of moving air in case of T100 is less pleasant than in T300. It all sums up to the fact that T100 is not for bedroom use. And even when I use it for other purposes its sound irritates if there is no other source of sound (like TV or PC).

I looked into interior of both units and discovered that motor-fan combo in T300 is higher quality than in T100. E.g. in T300 electric motor is open and seems traditional while in T300 it is closed design with closed bearings which reduces noise.

T100 pros are - it is small and portable, you can carry it with you anywhere you want. It does a good air cleaning - according to [...] it cleans air much better than typical value oriented purifier. Another plus is attractive design and ease of use. The new unit has a terrible noxious smell coming from the guts of the unit when turned on - seems like the plastic in the HEPA filter or motor oil in the electric motor. With these filters, the unit emits maybe 40-50% of the humidity that it always has with every other filter I've ever purchased. And they emitted a strange smell for the first few days.

After experimenting with this product because this one was cheaper, I returned them, because they render my humidifier useless. The vendor did refund my purchase price and shipping cost promptly, but I of course had to pay to ship them back to them.

This is a classic example of something that is created to "look" like it should do something, but does nothing. I think the main problem is that the water tray is so undersized that there is never enough water supplied to soak the evaporator pad. As someone else posted (maybe under the Honeywell branded version), the pad gets damp maybe a couple inches up, but otherwise remains dry. As a result the humidifier just doesn't do anything of any significance. I have a humidistat and have owned Hunter and Duracraft humidifiers in the past that worked, so I am qualified to make these statements.

I tried shimming up one end of the unit hoping that it might supply more water to the pad, but that did not help. Maybe the pad they supply is just too robust or is over-treated so that it will not soak up enough water, I don't know. But, I do know that this unit does not do much of anything but make noise. Even on low it is a louder than it ought to be. I should add that is is in a small bedroom maybe 12 x 10.

I decided to return this and purchase a Vicks model V3100 1.0 Gallon Cool Mist Humidifier. Now that model works as you would expect a small room humidifier to work, and on low it just whispers. A UL-150 should maintain an internal temperature of 66C, but it's not recommended for magnetic media, only microfilm/fiche or other photographic film.

Sentry Safe has a large selection and most of what I looked at were noted as being suitable for various computer storage media like CDs and DVDs, even some that have a USB port so you could use the device while it was IN the safe, but only two models (1710, 6720) were actually appropriate for computer media. I liked their prices and selection, but was annoyed with the somewhat deceptive and vague information on their website. Don't believe me? Download the 1710 manual and look for the UL ratings and their notation on suitable safes for storing "computer and audio/visual media". Most of their safes are UL-350, which is 177C and primarily for paper documents, certainly well beyond the maximum storage temperature of hard drives, flash, and CD/DVD media.

The Honeywell safe is big and heavy (awkward to carry), and the price is definitely up there.
